Redlands Tennis Teams Boast Impressive Preseason Rankings

It was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
that both of the University of Redlands tennis teams have landed
among the best in NCAA Division III, according to the
ITA/Campbell’s Preseason College rankings.
Following last season’s 17-7 showing, the women embark upon
the 2010 campaign as the No. 9 team in the nation. In addition,
they land at No. 2 among the West Region. The men look forward to
the start of the season as the No. 11 team in Division III while
boasting the No. 3 spot for the region.
The Bulldog women return all but two starters and look forward to
the experienced play of this year’s juniors and seniors.
Redlands faces a challenging schedule that includes seven opponents
ranked in the top 30, highlighted by No. 2 Williams College (MA) on
March 22 at 3 p.m.
Despite the graduation of two contributors, the Redlands
men’s team expects to build upon last year’s 19-9
record with stellar play from its returning class. The 2010
campaign brings a traditionally daunting schedule of Division III
foes, which includes 14 nationally ranked teams. No. 1 UC Santa
Cruz makes its way to Verdieck Courts on March 27 for a 10 a.m.
showdown with the Bulldogs.
Both teams kick off the 2010 season on Feb. 6 with matches at
Concordia University – Irvine.
