Two Bulldog Student-Athletes Garner NSCA All-America Honors

It was announced earlier this week that senior volleyball player
Lauren Harding (Altadena, CA) and senior football player Josh
Cunningham (Phoenix, AZ) of the University of Redlands gained
National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-America
honors for their performance and success in the weight room.
Cunningham makes his second appearance as an NSCA All-American
following his nod as a sophomore. A leader by example, his power
clean ranks sixth all-time in Redlands football history; this is
quite a feat considering Redlands has been playing football for 100
years. His character and effort have put him in position to lead
the Bulldogs in sacks per game. Cunningham’s determination,
consistency, and leadership have set him apart both in the weight
room and on the gridiron.
Harding emanates the meanings of powerful, resilient, competitive,
and tough. Her work ethic has enabled her to increase her squat by
an astounding 92 pounds in the past two years and paved the way for
her inaugural American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)
All-Region award. Her role on the team as the libero demands leg
strength and stamina; combining these with her skills, she ranked
as high as third in the nation in digs per set during the 2009
season. Harding is a model student-athlete in every sense of the
words and is largely responsible for the "work-man"-like attitude
that is now Bulldog volleyball team culture.
These student-athletes are the third duo from Redlands to receive
NSCA All-America honors as nominated by Head Strength &
Conditioning Coach Josh Bullock.
