Bulldog Baseball Ranked No. 15 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll

U of R Baseball earns No. 15 ranking from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's preseason poll L-R (Chase Tucker, Kyle Hart, Cameron Lowe)

The University of Redlands baseball program will start off the 2012 season on a high note after slotting in as the No. 15 team in the nation, according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's 2012 Preseason Poll.

The Bulldogs earned a total of 225 points, placing them as the third team in the West Region behind last year's Northwest Conference champion, No. 6 Linfield College (OR), and regional rival No. 2 Chapman University.

Last season, the Maroon and Gray put together one of the most impressive campaigns in the program's history, registering a 30-13 record en route to the 2011 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship.  The Bulldogs' season culminated in a return trip to the NCAA Championships.

Despite the loss of three instrumental seniors, the U of R returns the core of the crew, including All-Region senior shortstop Chase Tucker (Poway, CA) and senior second baseman Cameron Lowe (Olympia, WA).  In addition, the pitching staff welcomes back its new top slinger junior Kyle Hart (Burbank, CA).

Redlands opens the 2012 season on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. when it takes on Austin College (TX) at The Yard.
