Scott Laverty was named head baseball coach in June 1999 after serving as the infield and hitting coach at UC Riverside for four years.

Since taking the helm at Redlands, Laverty has helped the Bulldogs climb up the conference ladder, culminating in the program’s first SCIAC title since 1991 during the 2006 season. With a school-record 30 wins, he led the team to its first NCAA playoff appearance since 1993 while coaching the SCIAC Player of the Year.

Throughout his time at Redlands he has mentored a significant number of All-Conference selections and All-Region performers.

Laverty enjoyed his 100th career win as a head coach on March 12, 2006, when Redlands defeated Rutgers-Newark, 9-1, in the first game of a doubleheader. Just three years later, he reached the 200-win milestone when he took down Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with an 11-4 win on March 22, 2009.

Adding to his records, the 2010 baseball team reset the school record for conference victories with an impressive 20-8 showing.  His 2005 squad had established the previous mark at 16 wins.

During the summer of 2010, Laverty coached in the Northwood League for the inaugural season of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.  The two previous summers saw Laverty serve as the manager the Cheyenne Grizzlies of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. Under Laverty's direction, the Grizzlies posted their best record in franchise history and won the league's regular-season championship.

In addition to his time at UCR, Laverty worked as the hitting and third-base coach for the Evansville Otters in the independent Frontier League.

As a player, he was an All-West Regional shortstop at UC Riverside, appearing in the 1994 NCAA Division II World Series.

Laverty earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UCR and a master’s in Education from Cal Baptist University. A big fan of all sports, Laverty especially enjoys following college basketball. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and resides in Corona.
