After making significant contributions to the Bulldog baseball program as a student-athlete, Alex Scheiwe returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant baseball coach in August of 2015. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Scheiwe attends the School of Business in pursuit of his Master of Business Administration.
Scheiwe is no stranger to Bulldog baseball, as he was labeled one of the top outfielders in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) during his four years at the University of Redlands. In 2013, he was named to the All-SCIAC First Team, American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-West Region Third Team, and D3baseball.com All-West Region Third Team. He continued his successes in 2014, as he was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team while earning a co-captain honor during his final year as a Bulldog.
In addition, he is tied for fourth overall in Redlands program history with a single-season batting average of .455, which came during his 2013 campaign. During his career, he tallied a batting average of .363 with 176 hits and 99 runs scored. He also provided 65 RBI over the course of four seasons.
His successes stemmed from the diamond to the classroom, as he was a three-time Redlands Scholar-Athlete and two-time SCIAC All-Academic member. Furthermore, he collected Dean's list recognition in six of his eight semesters and was honored as a member of Who's Who in Colleges & Universities in 2014.
Scheiwe earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Since graduation, he has dipped into the world of coaching by acting as a varsity assistant coach for San Dieguito Academy from October of 2014 to June of 2015. In addition, he was a specialty team member for Whole Food Market for nine months.
Scheiwe's career goals include managing and owning his own General Store in Cooperstown, NY.
During his tenure with Bulldog Athletics, he aims to give back to both the game of baseball and the Redlands program, which is responsible for much of his success as a student-athlete.
Outside of coaching, Scheiwe enjoys woodworking, scuba diving, fishing, and watching baseball on television. He labels himself as a beverage connoisseur, expert grocery shopper, and an awful navigator.
Currently, he makes his home in Redlands.
