Redlands Football Climbs National Rankings to No. 15/23

It was announced early Monday that the University of Redlands football team made another positive move on the respective top-25 polls after posting a 61-20 victory over the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges during Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown. The Bulldogs move up two slots on the D3football.com poll to No. 15 and reenter the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III list at No. 23 after a one-week hiatus.

Redlands made a solid statement with its most recent victory, earning a variety of first-time achievements throughout the game. Among the highlights, junior defensive back Scott Payton (Sammamish, WA) nabbed his first career interception for a 60-yard scoring return with 8:04 remaining in the final frame. In addition, senior quarterback Les Obie (Huntington Beach, CA) recorded a three-yard scamper into the end zone for his inaugural touchdown as a Bulldog.

In addition, the team landed seventh all-time at Redlands for the most points scored in a game, cracking the list for the first time since 2007.

The Bulldogs (3-1) head to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday for a 1 p.m. conference bout with the Stags.
