Bulldog Football Climbs National Rankings to No. 15/16

With a 6-1 overall record, the University of Redlands Bulldog football team climbed one spot on both of the most recent NCAA Division III polls, according to Monday's announcements. With 240 votes, Redlands now sits 15th on the D3football.com Top-25 list and holds down the No. 16 slot on the American Football Coaches Association list with 398 votes.

The Bulldogs captured their sixth win of the season with a 38-28 Homecoming performance against the University of La Verne. After jumping out to a 7-0 lead, the Maroon and Gray relied on back-to-back 14-point stanzas to prevail in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition.

Overall, the Bulldogs boast an average of 416.4 yards on offense per game. Junior quarterback Chad Hurst (Dixon, CA) leads the charge with an efficiency rating of 125.64 while boasting the most rushing yards with 456. Sophomore wide receiver Taylor Irwin (Rocklin, CA) serves as Hurst's top target with 508 yards on 39 receptions.

Defensively, junior linebacker Jordan Garcia (Carlsbad, CA) offers a team-leading 67 tackles, with senior defensive lineman Brett Hutter (Ontario, CA) ranking first with 11 tackles for a loss of 32 yards and nine quarterback hurries.

Redlands (6-1, 4-1 SCIAC) looks forward to Senior Night on Saturday as it hosts Whittier College in the final home game of the regular season. Kickoff against the Poets is set for 7 p.m. in Ted Runner Stadium.
