Football Standout Brett Hutter Named to Capital One Academic All-America Division III Football Team

It was announced on Tuesday that University of Redlands defensive lineman Brett Hutter (Ontario, CA) collected Capital One® Academic All-America First-Team honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks his third post-season accolade following his recent D3football.com All-West Region award and All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) nod.

With a 3.89 cumulative GPA, Hutter excels in the classroom as a Communicative Disorders major. Thus far, he has landed on the Dean's List and received UR Scholar-Athlete recognition.

During the Bulldogs' 8-2 season, which culminated in the program's sixth NCAA appearance, Hutter offered a well-balanced effort as a defensive end. He recorded 30 tackles, including 17 of the solo variety, while leading the team with 11 tackles for a loss. Overall, he posted at least one TFL in seven games during his final year at Redlands, pushing opponents back a total of 32 yards. He posted a team-leading 4.5 sacks in the process. With relentless determination to interrupt the oncoming offense, Hutter amassed 11 quarterback hurries to rank first on the squad while breaking up five passes.
