It was announced in late December that two Bulldog football players received D3PRODAY.com All-America Honorable Mention for their contributions during the University of Redlands' 8-2 season. Senior offensive lineman Chris Radtke (Redlands, CA) and senior defensive back Josh Herrera (Vista, CA) represented the Maroon and Gray with their inaugural such awards.
One of four team co-captains, Radtke served as the Bulldogs' center for an offensive line that led all of NCAA Division III with just three sacks allowed during their 10-game schedule. He was instrumental in helping the squad to rack up the third-most total offense in school history with 4,175 yards, which included 2,159 passing yards and 2,016 rushing yards. With Radtke's efforts, the team relied on a balanced scoring attack with 24 touchdowns on the ground and 19 through the air.
Also a team co-captain for the Bulldogs, Herrera adds to his list of awards with this All-America Honorable Mention nod. During his final campaign, he ranked third overall on the team with 66 tackles, including 38 solo hits. This talented free safety also recorded eight pass break-ups, including six in conference action. In addition, he nabbed an interception during the Bulldogs' season opener when they upended then-No. 4 North Central College.
The No. 17/20 Redlands football team advanced to the NCAA Championships for the sixth time in Head Coach Mike Maynard's tenure. The Bulldogs also ranked ninth in the nation for net punting with an average of 35.74 yards. In addition, the team sits fourth all-time in scoring with 341 points.
