Daryl Andersen Selected to D3football.com Team of the Week

It was announced on Tuesday morning that junior tight end Daryl Andersen (Grand Terrace, CA) of the University of Redlands football team landed on the D3football.com Team of the Week for his strong performance against the University of La Verne.

On Oct. 13, this first-year transfer from Riverside Community College enjoyed a breakout game that included six receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 17th straight victory over the Leopards.  With these contributions, Andersen more than tripled his season numbers en route to the Maroon and Gray's 40-21 triumph.

Andersen's scoring strikes came in the Bulldogs' 20-point fourth quarter that more than secured the win.  He made a 21-yard grab early in the frame before taking an 88-yard bomb to the house on a second-and-one play with 4:36 left in the game.

This week, Andersen is the only selection from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and one of three from the West Coast.  He joins two players from Willamette University (OR) on the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.

The Bulldog football team (2-3, 2-1 SCIAC) returns to Ted Runner Stadium on Saturday for Homecoming against the tied-for-first-place Panthers of Chapman University.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
