Bulldog Men’s Basketball Player Tristan Kirk Nabs SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office announced on Tuesday that junior guard Tristan Kirk (Redlands, CA) of the University of Redlands was named the Male Athlete of the Week for Nov. 27-Dec. 3.  Kirk led the Bulldog men's basketball team to the program's eighth Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament championship with his MVP performance last week.

In a traditional eight-team tournament, Redlands defeated Pacifica College, UC Santa Cruz and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges to notch its first Lee Fulmer Tournament title since the 2006 event.

Starting all three games, Kirk racked up a balanced stat line with 43 total points on 57.7% shooting from the field, to go along with 18 rebounds and 18 assists.  As the team's primary ball-distributor, he supplied an assist-to-turnover ratio of three, highlighted by back-to-back games with eight dishes.  Due to his well-rounded contributions, Kirk was named the MVP of the tournament.

Freshman swimmer Jacqueline Masehi-Lano (San Marino, CA) of Caltech won the Female Athlete of the Week honor.

The Bulldog men's basketball team (3-3) faces off against the Panthers of Chapman University on Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. in Orange.
