It was announced on Monday that two University of Redlands men's basketball players landed on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams for their contributions during the 2011-12 season. Senior center Jack Colston (Dana Point, CA) collects his inaugural All-Conference award with a First-Team nod, while junior guard Tristan Kirk (Redlands, CA) nabs his second honor with this season's spot on the Second Team.

While averaging 27.6 minutes per SCIAC game, Colston served as the team's leading scorer with 14.3 points. In 14 conference games, he posted a shooting percentage of 42.5% to go along with a 76.6% performance at the charity stripe. He also stepped up with 33 assists and eight blocks against SCIAC opponents. In addition, the Bulldogs' big man became a perimeter threat with nine three-pointers.

Colston ranked among the top eight in the conference for several categories, highlighted by his 92 defensive rebounds for second and his 119 total rebounds for third. He also landed sixth in steals (22) and scoring (14.3).

Despite missing two games due to injury, Kirk provided integral play during the Bulldogs' SCIAC season. While seeing the court for more than 25 minutes per game, he converted 50.9% of his field goals and scored 11.4 points per game. He pulled in 5.6 rebounds, which included the sixth-most offensive boards among the conference with 27. Finally, Kirk ranked second in the SCIAC for total assists with 36.

Both players registered conference season-high scoring against Whittier College on Jan. 7, when they each tallied 21 points in the 103-91 victory.

The Bulldogs (13-13, 8-6 SCIAC) finished fourth in the conference standings en route to advancing to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament for the second consecutive season. Redlands battled until the bitter end but came up short of upsetting top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in the semifinal.
