Jorge Matesanz joined Bulldog Athletics as the Men’s Basketball Operations Coordinator in August 2016. In addition to contributing his diverse set of skills to the team, he attends the School of Business in pursuit of his Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.
Hailing from Sevilla, Spain, Matesanz attended the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2015 with a degree in Business Management and Finance. Matesanz came to UMFK following a distinguished prep career in his native Spain, which included winning the Nike Euro League 2010 U-18 title at Cajasol Sevilla for Coach Juanma Pino. He continued his successful basketball career by contributing his time and effort to the UMFK men’s basketball team. In his first year as a Bengal, he was named Team Rookie of the Year after helping to lead the squad to the Elite 8 at the USCAA Division I National Championships.
Matesanz was not only involved in athletics but was also a part of his school’s student senate by serving as vice president, treasurer, and professional business representative. He also became involved as an academic tutor, gym supervisor, and registrar’s assistant.
Following graduation, Matesanz worked as an analyst at the Maine Medical Center in the Office of Patient Financial Services.
Matesanz loves learning but says that being able to help student-athletes to succeed in the classroom, on the court, and most importantly as a person, is one of the most beautiful things a human can do.
In his free time, Matesanz enjoys cheering on Real Madrid, watching football and basketball, listening to music, reading, watching movies, and cooking traditional Spanish meals.
