No. 9 Redlands Mens Golf Earns At-Large Bid into NCAA Championships
The No. 9 University of Redlands men’s golf team picked up
one of two available pool “C” bids into the 2009
NCAA Men’s Golf Championships in Port Lucie, FL, according to
an announcement made today by the NCAA.
Pool "C" teams come from conferences that award automatic berths
into the NCAA Championships, and those that do not earn the
automatic bid from those conferences are placed into pool "C."
Hosted by Methodist College (NC), the championship event takes
place from May 13-16 at the PGA Golf Village. The first tee time is
set for 7 a.m. EST on May 13 and 14 while the rounds on May 15 and
16 start at 7:30 a.m. EST.
Redlands finished second in the Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (SCIAC) this season, jumping
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in the standings after a
second-place showing at the 36-hole championships. The University
of La Verne earned the SCIAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA
Championships while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Tain Lee was one
of five individual qualifiers.
Last year, the Bulldogs took second at the NCAA Championships after
entering as an at-large team. This marks the Maroon and
Gray’s 14th appearance at the national championship
event.
