Holden's No. 1 Ranking Leads Trio of Bulldog Golfers among Golfstat's DIII Top-20 Individuals

It was recently announced by Golfstat that University of Redlands sophomore swinger Bobby Holden (Simi Valley, CA) finished out the Bulldogs' fall season as the No. 1 golfer in all of the NCAA Division III.

After averaging 71.66 per round at the Embry-Riddle Arizona Co-Ed Invitational, Holden followed that up with a spectacular performance at the Cal State San Marcos Invite, firing off an opening round score of 66 to tie the school record.  He finished the invite with an average round of 69.66.

In addition, junior Jeremy Gomberg (Mountain View, CA) landed just two spots behind Holden at No. 3 overall in the nation.  During his only fall competition, Gomberg notched 14 birdies at the Cal State San Marcos Invite en route to his three-round total of 217.

Sophomore Andrew Shoup (Marina, CA) also landed among the top 20, coming in at No. 19.  After putting together a solid three rounds at the Embry-Riddle Arizona Co-Ed Invitational, Shoup performed well at the Cal State San Marcos Invite.  He tallied the most birdies on the squad during the three rounds and led the team by averaging 3.87 on par-four holes.

Both Holden and Gomberg played integral roles in the Bulldogs' success last year at the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships, leading the squad to a fifth-place showing.  The highly-touted Shoup joins the team this year after transferring from Notre Dame de Namur University.
