No. 10 Bulldog Men's Tennis Sweeps Pacific Lutheran University
After being rained out on Sunday, the No. 10 University of
Redlands men’s tennis team shut down the visiting Lutes
of Pacific Lutheran University (WA) on Monday in a make-up
match.
Following a sweep in doubles, the Bulldogs continued to dominate by
winning every singles match in two sets en route to the 9-0
victory.
In doubles, the No. 3 team of senior Chris Trippel (Mercer Island,
WA) and sophomore Casey Fashouer (Arlington, VA) blew by their
opponents by a score of 8-1 to initiate the scoring. At No. 2,
junior Jeff Hammond (Mercer Island, WA) and sophomore Keven Wong
(Kaneohe, HI) posted an impressive 8-3 win, while the top duo of
junior Mike Reading (Mill Creek, WA) and sophomore Cameron Spearmen
(Laguna Niguel, CA) came away with an 8-4 victory.
In addition to Hammond, Trippel, Reading, and Spearman winning in
singles, the Bulldogs gained solid performances from junior Matt
Liebman (Westport, CT) at No. 3 (6-1, 7-6 (2)) and senior Aron Ouye
(San Diego, CA) at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2).
Redlands (12-5) faces off against No. 4 Middlebury College (VT) on
Tuesday at 2 p.m.
