No. 17 Redlands Men's Tennis Falls to No. 10 Amherst College
The No. 17 University of Redlands men's tennis team fell to No. 10 Amherst College (MA) by a score of 2-7 on Wednesday.
After losing at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, the Maroon and Gray gained its first point of the match with an impressive 8-3 victory by the No. 1 duo of junior Cameron Spearman (Laguna Niguel, CA) and freshman Anish Nanda (Cerritos, CA).
But the Jeffs stormed back with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to take a 4-1 lead over the Bulldogs.
Senior Matt Liebman (Westport, CT) clawed his way back at the No. 3 slot by scores of 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 to give Redlands its second point.
However, Amherst prevailed at the remaining matches with three-setters at No. 1 and No. 6, resulting in the difficult loss for the Maroon and Gray.
The Bulldogs (8-5) compete in their seventh consecutive home match on Friday, taking on Skidmore College (NY) at 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
