No. 16 Bulldog Mens Water Polo Garners All-WWPA Awards
Three student-athletes on the No. 16 University of
Redlands’ men’s water polo squad earned
end-of-the-season awards from the Western Water Polo Association
(WWPA), according to a release today.
Senior driver Andrew Becskehazy (Miami, FL) picked up First-Team
All-WWPA honors after finishing the regular season with 62 goals in
33 games of work. Becskehazy earned First-Team All-America honors
last season and picked up Second-Team All-WWPA laurels as well.
Earning a spot on the All-WWPA Second Team, junior center Brendan
Meaney (Palm Desert, CA) helped power a potent Bulldog offense all
season. Meaney currently leads the team in goals with 65, which
ranks among the top 10 in the nation. This marks the first All-WWPA
consideration he has received.
For his work as a first-year member of the Redlands water polo
team, freshman driver Tyler Harp (San Bernardino, CA) landed on the
WWPA All-Freshman Team. He has netted four goals on the season thus
far going into the WWPA Championships.
Redlands (26-8, 9-1 SCIAC) travels to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges on Friday for a 11:30 a.m. game in the first round of the
three-day WWPA Championships. The Bulldogs enter as the
fourth-seeded team and square off against the fifth seed, Santa
Clara University, on Friday.
