Senior Center Blake vanHartesvelt Tabbed WWPA Player of the Week
It was announced on Wednesday that senior center Blake vanHartesvelt (Mercer Island, WA) of the University of Redlands was named the Western Water Polo Association's KAP7 Player of the Week.
VanHartesvelt scored a total of 10 goals, dished out one assist and tallied one ejection drawn during the Bulldogs' last three victories to make it five in a row for the Maroon and Gray.
Redlands earned an 11-9 win over the University of La Verne and a 9-7 showing against Occidental College to remain perfect in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action. The Bulldogs also notched a 14-12 decision against Chapman University in non-conference competition.
Against the Leopards, vanHartesvelt uncorked five goals to lead all players while accounting for nearly half of the team's scores. He also recorded the eventual game-winner against Chapman with three minutes to go in the fourth period.
KAP7 is the official game ball provider for the WWPA.
Redlands (12-13, 3-0 SCIAC) strives to extend its recent hot streak when it hosts Whittier College in an important conference match at the Thompson Aquatic Center on Saturday at 11 a.m.
