UR Men’s Water Polo Duo Collects SCIAC All-Academic Recognition
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) recently announced that University of Redlands men's water polo players, junior center-defender Alex Dow (Temple City, CA) and junior driver Patrick Roth (Cottonwood Heights, UT), represent the Bulldogs on the 2011-12 SCIAC All-Academic Men's Water Polo Team for their success in the classroom. This duo receives this honor with 25 other student-athletes from the seven member schools of the conference.
To be eligible for the recognition on the SCIAC All-Academic team, a water polo player must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 at his current institution while reaching sophomore athletic eligibility.
Dow, who is working toward a degree in Computer Science, scored seven goals on ten shots during the 2011 season. He also contributed three assists, notched three steals and earned two ejections drawn.
Roth scored 14 goals on 37 shot attempts while dishing out 17 assists during the 2011 campaign. In addition, this Chemistry major totaled 17 steals and drew 13 ejections for the Bulldogs. Earlier this month, Roth also collected "Outstanding" academic status through the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPA).
