Bulldog Men's Water Polo Falls to No. 15 Navy, 14-17

The University of Redlands men's water polo program battled No. 15 Navy from start to finish on Saturday afternoon, but fell just short of the upset bid, losing, 14-17.  In what was an exciting contest, the Bulldogs saw production from numerous players as they continue to gear up for conference-play.

Redlands competed well against the Midshipmen, forcing a tied score through three periods.  A late run by Navy provided the difference en route to the tight Maroon and Gray loss.

Sophomore driver Michael Robinson (Corona, CA) led the Bulldogs' attack, tallying six goals on the day.  Junior driver Quinn Curl (San Mateo, CA) also put together a solid all-around performance while finding the back of the net five times in the process.

The trio of junior center Alex Keith (Bellevue, WA), junior center Grant Harrington (Poway, CA) and sophomore driver David Sekula (LaGrange, IL) each added a goal in the defeat.

Maroon and Gray junior goalkeeper Tyler Abbott (Alta Loma, CA) performed valiantly in goal, notching 10 saves on the day.

A well-rounded Navy attack saw 10 different players score, including seven with two goals each.

Redlands (1-12) heads to the Claremont Convergence next weekend as it continues to prepare for the all-important Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) season which is just around the corner.  Games at the Claremont Convergence will be played on October 5th and 6th.
