Bulldog Swimmers Harp and Terzic Kick off NCAA Championships

Freshman Tyler Harp (San Bernardino, CA) and sophomore Miran Terzic (Mostar, Bosna i Hercegovina) both competed on the first day of action at the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday in Minneapolis, MN, representing the University of Redlands.

The two Bulldog superstars took on the 50 freestyle, an event in which they placed first and second at the 2009 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships. Terzic, the 2009 SCIAC champion in the event, tied for 21st in the preliminary heats of the event with a 20.74 standard while his sprinting counterpart, Harp, tied for 27th, clocking a 20.86. Both swimmers did not advance to finals, which will take place this evening. Luke Cummings of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology offered the final time that made it back to the consolation final heat (20.58).

Tomorrow, Terzic and Harp take on the 100 butterfly and will join up with senior Buddy Olds (Murrieta, CA) and junior John Floersch (San Jose, CA) in the 200 freestyle relay. Harp and Terzic are seeded 21st and 29th, respectively, in the 100 butterfly while the 200 freestyle relay is ranked 18th.
