Bulldog Swimming & Diving Gains CSCAA Scholar All-America Accolades

The University of Redlands’ women’s and men’s
swimming & diving teams collected College Swimming Coaches
Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors for the
fall of 2009, as announced today by the CSCAA.
The women compiled an impressive 3.40 semester GPA, tying for the
23rd-best mark out of the 89 NCAA Division III teams that gained
the distinction.
Redlands’ men tied for the 42nd-best semester GPA (3.12) out
of the 56 NCAA Division III programs that were recognized.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC), which has long prided itself on the high academic
standards of its membership, enjoyed prominent representation on
the Scholar All-America teams. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (3.53),
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (3.43) and Whittier College (3.11)
all earned a spot on the women’s Scholar All-America list
while Pomona-Pitzer (3.31) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (3.24) picked
up Scholar All-America laurels on the men’s side.
In order to qualify for the Scholar All-America program, teams must
meet a fall semester GPA of no less than 3.0.
Redlands (6-1, 6-0 SCIAC; 6-1, 6-0 SCIAC) travels to Claremont on
Saturday for its most important dual meet of the year.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (6-3, 6-0 SCIAC; 6-3, 6-0 SCIAC) sits atop
the both the women’s and men’s SCIAC standings with the
Bulldogs. Diving is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., with swimming
to follow at 11 a.m.
