Redlands Women's Basketball Gains 84-75 Victory over Trinity at Tip-Off Classic


The University of Redlands women's basketball team competed at home for the first time this season and provided an impressive showing against Trinity University (TX).  The Bulldogs gained an early lead with junior guard Ali Bueno (San Jose, CA) opening the scoring with the team's first 12 points.  Following a five-point advantage at the half, Redlands remained in control during the second period and pushed their lead to 14 points with 1:45 to go in the game.  Shooting 45.2% from the floor, the Bulldogs earned the 84-75 victory with three players finishing in double digits.

Bueno led the team with 22 points, including 7-for-12 shooting with six three-pointers.  Freshman Freshman forward Shada Sadeghi (Walnut Creek, WA) came away with 20 points while freshman forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) added 14 points in their home debut with the Bulldogs.

For Trinity (1-1), Danielle Hubenak led all scorers with 25 points, while Abby Dietert and Krista Prato Matthews provided 14 and 11 points, respectively.

In the second day of the Redlands Tip-Off Classic, the Bulldogs (2-0) face the Loggers of the University of Puget Sound (WA) at 7:30 p.m. while Trinity takes on Chapman University at 5:30 p.m.
