Redlands Women’s Basketball Players Meghan Yetman and Courtney Carroll Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

It was announced earlier today that two University of Redlands women’s basketball players earned ESPN The Magazine College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District accolades for their strong contributions in the classroom and on the court. Senior forward Meghan Yetman (Danville, CA) and sophomore forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) both landed on the First Team, gaining their inaugural honors from CoSIDA.

Boasting a 3.64 cumulative GPA as a Psychology major, Yetman continues to play an important role in the Bulldogs’ 14-5 season so far. She ranks second on the team with 10.6 points per game while leading the starters in shooting percentage with an impressive clip of .581. She also owns the most number of assists among the Bulldogs with 56 to go along with a team-leading 30 steals. She currently contributes 4.8 rebounds per game while averaging 28.3 minutes of action. In addition, she sits first among the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) with a .632 field-goal percentage in conference competition.

Equipped with a 3.72 cumulative GPA, Carroll leads the Maroon and Gray with 18.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game. Shooting .483 from the field and .824 from the free-throw line, she has scored 347 points so far this season. Currently, she leads the conference with 20.5 points per game. In 30.5 minutes per game, she has contributed 33 assists to rank third on the team while leading the Bulldogs with 32 blocks.

The members of CoSIDA nominate and vote on the Academic All-District teams. To be considered for this award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, and compete in at least 50% of his/her team’s games.

Yetman and Carroll now move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
