Bulldog Women's Basketball Faces No. 13 Puget Sound at George Fox in First-Ever NCAA Appearance
It was announced earlier this morning that the University of
Redlands women’s basketball team takes on No. 13 University of Puget Sound (WA) on Friday, March 5, at
George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, in its
first-ever NCAA appearance.
The Bulldogs earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships
with Saturday’s 55-54 overtime win against Occidental College
in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC) Postseason Tournament final. Earlier this season, Redlands
tied Occidental for the conference championship, garnering a 12-2
SCIAC record. Redlands boasts an overall mark of 22-5 to go along
with a regional ranking of No. 3. The Bulldogs are 12-0 on the road
this season.
With a conference record of 14-2, Puget Sound finished second
behind George Fox in the Northwest Conference standings. The
Loggers boast an overall mark of 23-4 and sit second in the
regional rankings. This is their fourth trip in five years to the
NCAA tournament.
In Friday’s other match-up, Louisiana College faces off against No. 5
George Fox University. The winners of the two games meet on
Saturday to determine who advances to the sectionals, which take
place on March 12-13.
