Redlands Women’s Basketball Player Meghan Yetman Gains Dual Athlete of the Week Honors

It was announced earlier this week that senior forward Meghan Yetman (Danville, CA) of the University of Redlands women’s basketball team gained two athlete of the week honors for her contributions during the week of Dec. 6-12.  She was named the Press-Enterprise’s Performer of the Week as determined by the online poll at http://oncampus.pe.com.  In addition, she was voted the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Female Athlete of the Week.

During last week’s only game, Yetman scored 20 of her 24 points in the second half to lead the team past Chapman University by a score of 78-59 on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs erupted with a 20-2 run with Yetman scoring 15 of those points to extend their lead to 58-38 with eight minutes to play. Overall, she went 7-for-8 from the field and hit 10 of her 15 free throws. In addition, she chipped in six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the game.

The Maroon and Gray (6-2) look forward to hosting undefeated Lakeland College (WI) on Mon., Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Currier Gym.

Nominations for Performer of the Week are submitted by area sports information directors and then voted online by the general public.

The SCIAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the athlete of the week.  The male winner was Cal Lutheran University men's basketball player Aaron Fisher.
