Bulldog Women’s Soccer Duo Earns Spot on NSCAA All-Region Teams

Junior defender Chelsea Hafley (Redlands, CA) and junior midfielder Jessi Hoyt (Boise, ID) of the University of Redlands women’s soccer team were recognized as National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III All-West Region honorees, as announced today by the NSCAA.

Hafley, who earned a First-Team citation, enjoyed a remarkable season competing for the Maroon and Gray. She started in all 18 of the team’s matches as a defender, putting away five goals while adding two assists for a total of 12 points. Hafley helped lock down the opposition as her defensive corps boasted a 0.82 goals-against average. The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) head coaches recognized Hafley for an outstanding season in conference play, bestowing First-Team All-SCIAC accolades upon her. In addition, her combined success in the classroom and on the pitch earned her ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII Second-Team honors. This marks her first-ever All-Region selection.

Hoyt garnered Second-Team laurels after energizing the Bulldog offense all season. A major reason for the team’s success came from her ability to distribute well in the midfield. She proved capable of scoring goals, as evidenced by her total of six on the season, and also served as an important outlet in generating scoring opportunities. Hoyt finished the season ranked second on the team in assists (four) and points (16). She picked up First-Team All-SCIAC honors for the first time in her career following a standout conference season and also earned an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII Second-Team citation for her athletic and academic excellence. This marks her first-ever All-Region nod.

Redlands (11-7, 9-3 SCIAC) finished the season ranked second in the conference, which marked the 14th straight year that the Bulldogs have finished third or better in the SCIAC.
