Redlands Womens Soccers Hafley Nets NSCAA All-America Laurels

Junior defender Chelsea Hafley (Redlands, CA) of the University
of Redlands women’s soccer team gained National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III Third-Team
All-America honors, as announced today by the NSCAA.
Hafley continues to pile up awards this season. Yesterday, she
received her inaugural NSCAA First-Team All-West Region
citation. Hafley’s excellence during the 2009 season has also
earned her First-Team All-Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors and ESPN The
Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII Second-Team laurels.
She started in all 18 games as a defender for the Bulldogs, putting
away five goals while adding two assists for a total of 12 points.
Hafley competed on a back line that contributed to eight shutouts
and held the opposition to 0.83 goals per game.
Hafley joins an elite club of student-athletes with this honor. She
stands as just the sixth Bulldog women’s soccer player since
2001 to grace the NSCAA All-America teams. The Maroon and Gray has
had an All-America honoree every season since 2004.
This marks her inaugural All-America recognition.
Redlands (11-7, 9-3 SCIAC) finished the season ranked second in the
conference, which marked the 14th straight year that the Bulldogs
have finished third or better in the SCIAC.
