Redlands Womens Tennis Earns First-Round Bye in NCAA Championships

It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands
women’s tennis program advances onto the NCAA Championships
as the second-place team from the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). The Bulldogs enjoy a
first-round bye at the six-team regional hosted by Pomona-Pitzer
Colleges.
On Friday, May 2, UC Santa Cruz (6-1) and Linfield College (18-5;
OR) face off in one match, with the winner taking on the Bulldogs
(14-5) on Saturday, May 4. Chapman University (11-3) and the
University of Texas, Tyler (17-3) battle it out in Friday’s
second match, with the winner facing Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. On
Sunday, May 4, the winners of Saturday’s matches will compete
for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Earlier this year, Redlands defeated Chapman University by a score
of 7-2. The Bulldogs earned split results against Pomona-Pitzer
Colleges, defeating the Sagehens, 7-2, on March 29 before falling
to them, 1-8, on April 18.
The NCAA Team Championships continue on May 13-15 at Gustavus
Adolphus College (MN).
