No. 8 Redlands Women's Tennis Travels to Pomona-Pitzer for NCAA Championships

After moving up three spots in the Campbell’s/ITA Tennis
Rankings, the No. 8 University of Redlands women’s tennis
team heads to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for the 2009 NCAA Division III
Championships.
Following a first-round bye, the Bulldogs (16-6) compete against
regional rival and 24th-ranked Chapman University (10-6) in the
second round on Saturday, May 9. Time of the match is still to be
determined.
This is Redlands’ ninth trip to the NCAA tournament in the
last ten years.
No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer (17-4) faces the winner of a first-round match
between Whitworth University (WA, 21-4) and the University of Texas
– Tyler (17-8).
The third round takes place on Sunday, with the winner advancing to
the quarterfinals of the championships, which begin on May 19 in
Lawrenceville, GA.
The Maroon and Gray earned the Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference’s (SCIAC) automatic bid by winning the
conference tournament on April 19. The Bulldogs defeated
Pomona-Pitzer in the championship match by a score of 5-4.
