No. 28 Redlands Women's Tennis Levels La Verne in SCIAC Contest

The No. 28 University of Redlands women's tennis team won its second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match in as many days, downing the Leopards of the University of La Verne by a score of 7-2. The Bulldogs cruised through the doubles before winning the first four singles matches en route to the solid showing.

In doubles, the team's outcomes in doubles seemed connected to each duo's position within the lineup. The No. 1 tandem of sophomore Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) and junior Shannon Cassidy (Yuba City, CA) rolled to an 8-1 triumph, which inspired an 8-2 performance by the No. 2 team of freshman Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) and Julia Pollak (Holland, PA). Finally, junior Julia Galbraith (Tacoma, WA) and freshman Maddie Morton (Henderson, NV) put together an 8-3 effort at No. 3.

In singles, the Bulldogs gained wins at the Nos. 2-5 slots, with Pollak unleashing another shutout win at No. 4, while sophomore Paige Press (La Jolla, CA) made it official for the Maroon and Gray by dismissing her No. 2 opponent, 6-0, 6-1.

Cassidy and senior Katherine Guimapang (Norwalk, CA) also collected straight-set victories for the Bulldogs.

Redlands (9-4, 2-0 SCIAC) looks forward to hosting Caltech in a SCIAC tilt on Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m.
