David Donn joined Bulldog Athletics as the graduate assistant
coach for women’s tennis in July of 2009. He became a Bulldog
following a two-year stint as the head men’s tennis coach at
Division III foe, Williams College (MA). While working at Redlands,
he also attends the School of Education in pursuit of his Master of
Arts in Higher Education.
While at Williams, Donn led the Ephs to back-to-back Elite Eight
appearances with a combined record of 31-10. He guided the team to
a high of No. 3 on the ITA College Rankings and coached three
All-Americans, including the ITA Northeast Region Player of the
Year. His team gained Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
All-Academic honors during both seasons of his tenure.
He also led the Longmeadow High School boys’ tennis team to a
17-1 record and the state semifinals during the 2005 season. In
addition, Donn brings coaching experience as a tennis instructor,
working both in the academic and private club settings.
As an undergraduate, Donn competed in tennis throughout his
four-year career at the University of Richmond in Virginia. He
played No. 1 singles during his sophomore, junior and senior
seasons and became the school’s first male tennis player to
receive the Student-Athlete of the Year award following his senior
campaign. Donn led the Spiders to the Division I NCAA tournament on
two occasions while garnering First-Team All-Atlantic 10 accolades
in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He also was voted the team’s most
valuable player in 2003 and 2004. This Dean’s List member
completed his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in
Communications.
Hailing from East Longmeadow, MA, Donn enjoys playing the guitar,
golfing, and cheering on his New England sports teams. He currently
resides in Highland.
