Redlands Volleyball Falls to Millikin University (IL)

Earlier today, the University of Redlands volleyball team suffered
a four-game loss to visiting Millikin University (IL), 31-29,
18-30, 27-30, 22-30. Although the Bulldogs gained the hard-fought
victory in game one, the Big Blue stormed back to control much of
the remaining match. For Redlands, freshman middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) led the team with 13 kills for a hitting percentage of .250. Sophomore right-side hitter Jordann Tanner (Vista, CA) supplied 10 kills while senior right-side attacker Cassie McEuen (Mountain View, CA) tallied eight. Redlands defended by committee with three players gaining double-digit digs, as sophomore setter Kelina Smith (Kurtistown, HI) tallied 13 and senior outside hitter Lori Nakamura (Honolulu, HI) and sophomore libero Lauren Harding (Altadena, CA) earned 11 apiece. Millikin gained solid hitting from senior middle blocker Rachel Cook (Heyworth, IL) with 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .295. In addition, the Big Blue looked to senior right-side hitter Jenny McMillen (Pana, IL) to put 12 kills away and sophomore right-side hitter Kayci Creviston (Shelbyville, IL) to earn 10. Defensively, sophomore libero Colette LeClaire (Wauconda, IL) supplied 18 digs while junior outside hitter Becca Zefron (Geneva, IL) gained 17 and junior outside hitter Albana Gashi (Flanagan, IL) posted 15. The Bulldogs (12-13, 5-4 SCIAC) look to rebound from today’s loss when they host Whittier College in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match at 6 p.m. tonight. Millikin (18-13) faces off against Whittier at 2 p.m. in Currier Gym. |
