Redlands Volleyball Suffers Three-Game loss to CMS

The University of Redlands took on the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges last night but came up short, losing in three games, 24-30, 19-30, 27-30. With too many errors, the Bulldogs struggled to establish an effective offense against the Athenas.

With only two tied scores and one lead change during the entire match, CMS controlled the play from the start.

The Bulldogs gained 12 kills from senior outside hitter Lori Nakamura (Honolulu, HI) while freshman middle blocker Liz Figeroid (Sacramento, CA) added seven. CMS gained strong hitting from freshman outside hitter Kendra Huff (Downey, CA), who tallied 11 kills for a hitting percentage of .320. Junior middle blocker Helena Bottemiller (Burein, WA) provided seven kills and three block assists for the Athenas.

Redlands remains in fourth place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings, sitting two games behind third-place CMS. The Bulldogs travel to Cal Lutheran University on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. match against the Regals, who own second place in the conference.
