Bulldog Volleyball Suffers Three-Game Defeat to CLU
The University of Redlands faced the second-place team in the
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) on
Friday, falling in three games to Cal Lutheran University, 21-30,
27-30, 16-30.
Although the Bulldogs curbed their errors, they struggled against
the proficient attacking of the Regals. Cal Lu recorded a solid
hitting percentage of .359, compared to Redlands’ .216.
Leading the offense for the Bulldogs, senior outside hitter Lori
Nakamura (Honolulu, HI) and freshman outside hitter Jackie Hamilton
(Loma Linda, CA) each provided nine kills. Senior right-side hitter
Cassie McEuen (Mountain View, CA) posted a remarkable hitting
percentage of .400 to lead the team. Defensively, the Bulldogs
gained 15 digs from freshman libero Chelsea Arcaris (Vista,
CA).
For Cal Lutheran, junior outside hitter Summer Plante-Newman
(Quartz Hill, CA) provided a match-leading 15 kills, along with an
impressive hitting percentage of .519. Freshman middle blocker Erin
Exline (Clovis, CA) also boasted double-digit numbers with 11 kills
and a mark of .364.
Redlands (13-15, 6-6 SCIAC) currently sits in a tie for fourth
place in the SCIAC with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and looks to move
ahead by facing the Sagehens on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Currier
Gym.
