|
The Redlands volleyball team dismantled La Sierra University on
Saturday night in three games, 30-11, 30-21, 30-15, to earn its
second win of the season. The Bulldogs competed with consistency
and depth, playing nearly their entire 16-woman roster. In game one, Redlands hit .400 with its regular starters and quickly pulled away in the early minutes of play. The second and third games saw a variety of players gaining significant experience for the Bulldogs, who maintained control much of the time. Leading the team, sophomore right-side hitter Jordann Tanner (Vista, CA) knocked down 10 kills on 25 attempts for a hitting percentage of .320. Freshman outside hitter Jackie Hamilton (Loma Linda, CA) put away eight kills on 16 attempts without any errors. In addition, sophomore Courtney Rood (Beaverton, OR) and junior Ashley Williams (Sunland, CA) split time at setter, providing 19 and 11 assists, respectively. The Bulldogs (2-0) host Cal State East Bay on Thursday at 6 p.m. before heading to the Pacific Coast Classic on Friday and Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Redlands faces the University of Puget Sound (WA) and Haverford College (PA) on Friday and then takes on UC Santa Cruz and Principia College (IL) on Saturday. |
