Bulldog Volleyball Defeats Whittier in Three Games

The University of Redlands volleyball team traveled to Whittier
College and gained its second Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (SCIAC) win of the season. The Bulldogs
controlled much of the match en route to a three-game victory over
the Poets, 31-29, 30-26, 30-15. Despite a close first game, Redlands pulled away in games two and three, playing 12 different players. The Bulldogs hit .242 as a team, with freshman outside hitter Jackie Hamilton (Loma Linda, CA) leading the way with 10 kills. Freshman middle blocker Kirby McCord (Huntington Beach, CA) tallied six kills and no errors on 13 attempts for a hitting percentage of .462. Sophomore right-side hitter Jordann Tanner (Vista, CA) and freshman middle blocker Liz Figeroid (Sacramento, CA) mustered five kills apiece for impressive marks of .500 and .333, respectively. Junior setter Ashley Williams (Sunland, CA) dished out 31 assists while providing two service aces and 11 digs. Defensively, junior Dory Baga (Aiea, HI) led the Bulldogs with 13 digs. Redlands (9-8, 2-1 SCIAC) takes to the road again on Friday and faces conference rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 7:30 p.m. |
