Redlands Volleyball Falls to Whittier College
After competing in the CLU Posada Royale Classic over the weekend, the University of Redlands volleyball team resumed Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Tuesday night when it traveled to Whittier College. Redlands jumped out to an early 10-5 lead in the opening set but relinquished control to an offensively more effective Poet squad, leading to the Maroon and Gray's straight-set loss, 21-25, 22-25, 19-25.
Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Buckner (San Rafael, CA), who recently nabbed the Press-Enterprise Performer of the Week honor, continued to lead the Bulldogs with her 12-kill performance. Freshman outside/right-side hitter Jackie Starks (Long Beach, CA) backed her with six kills, while junior middle blocker Alexa Herlosky (Henderson, NV) added five.
Defensively, freshman libero Allison Padgett (Redlands, CA) supplied a match-high 14 digs.
The Bulldogs (3-17, 2-7 SCIAC) look forward to a busy weekend at home when they host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. against New York University and 6 p.m. against Cal Lutheran University.
