Redlands Women’s Water Polo Splits Games against Non-Conference Opponents

The University of Redlands women’s water polo team returned home to the Thompson Aquatic Center on Tuesday for games against two non-conference opponents. In the first game, the Bulldogs battled it out with Marist College (NY) but came up short in the 7-11 loss. Redlands quickly rebounded with a solid 7-2 win over visiting George Washington University (DC).

Against Marist, Redlands gained another standout performance from junior 2m-offensive player Sam Greenawalt (Riverside, CA), who tallied five goals against the Red Foxes. Junior driver Claire Quinn (Fresno, CA) and sophomore 2m-defender Tawny Rielly (Oceanside, CA) added one apiece while junior goalkeeper Lauren Ellsworth (Napa, CA) posted three saves between the pipes.

Later that night, the Bulldogs took on George Washington University and earned a solid win over the Colonials. Greenawalt once again led the offensive charge with three goals while Quinn earned two. Freshman driver Katie Stadius (Mercer Island, WA) and junior 2m-defender Jen Caron (San Dimas, CA) rounded out the Bulldogs’ scoring with one apiece. Ellsworth came up with six saves for Redlands.
