Bulldog Cross Country Teams Compete at SCIAC Multi-Duals
The University of Redlands men’s and women’s cross
country teams had a solid showing at the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual Meet in La
Mirada on Oct. 18, placing fourth and tying for third,
respectively.
Junior Jake Baechle (Aurora, OH) led the way for the men, crossing
the finish line 18th with a 27:44.28 mark. Finishing two places
behind Baechle for 20th was sophomore Alec Fillmore (Riverside, CA)
who posted a season-best time of 27:55.42.
Also faring well for the Bulldog men were sophomore Jeremy Kalmus
(New Orleans, LA) and freshman Duncan Ashby (Goleta, CA), turning
in times of 28:17.93 and 28:33.04 for respective places of 27th and
35th.
For the women, sophomore Heather Mayer (Spring Valley, CA) turned
in the team’s top performance with a 23:47.18 standard, which
proved good enough for 16th place. Sophomore Katie Ostrinski
(Riverside, CA) and junior Stephanie Mera (Redlands, CA) followed
closely behind, notching times of 23:53.41 and 24:08.25 for 18th
and 21st place, respectively.
In addition, freshman Fiona Wilhelm (Boise, ID, 24:11.30), junior
Kelly Luck (Boulder, CO, 24:11.58) and freshman Camila Alvarez (San
Bernardino, CA, 24:30.23) also turned in top-30 performances.
The Bulldog harriers take a weekend off before competing in the
SCIAC Championship meet on Nov. 1 in Chino at 9 a.m.
