After three years with the program as an assistant coach, Aaron Olswanger became the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach in 2007. Originally, he served a one-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach and then joined the Bulldogs as the graduate assistant for cross country, completing his Master of Arts in Higher Education. Olswanger continues to work as an assistant coach for the Bulldog track & field programs.

Since his arrival at Redlands, Olswanger has coached 36 All-SCIAC showings, two individual conference champions, three NCAA Championship cross country qualifiers, and two NCAA Championship track performances.

In 2007, Olswanger spearheaded the Redlands Distance Summer Series, a weekly opportunity for runners of all ages to participate in friendly competition at Ted Runner Stadium.

Olswanger arrived at Redlands after an outstanding collegiate career with the Idaho State University Bengals. He landed on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team nine times while earning a combined six letters in cross country and track & field. He capped off his stellar career as the 2004 ISU Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year. In addition to his impressive athletic accomplishments, Olswanger was named to the Dean’s List each year of his college career, while earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences and Secondary Education.

When not coaching the Bulldogs, Olswanger serves as a teacher at Orangewood High School.  In his spare time, he enjoys visiting with his family and competing in road races throughout the Southern California area.  This member of the Running Center Racing Team currently resides in Redlands.
