Jacqueline “Jackie” Macy joined the University of Redlands volleyball staff as a graduate assistant in August 2016. In addition to contributing her talents to the volleyball team, she completed her Master of Arts in Learning & Teaching Multiple Subjects through the School of Education. During the fall of 2018, she moved into a part-time role while also coaching locally at Pursuit Volleyball Club.

A Southern California native, Macy was born in Long Beach, grew up in Walnut, and now resides in Redlands. She graduated from Colgate University in New York, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies. While at Colgate, Macy served as the setter for the Division I Raiders volleyball team, helping them win the Patriot League Championship in her rookie season before earning the Defensive MVP award as a junior. She went on to captain the squad in her final season. Macy also led the team in assists and service aces two years in a row. In 2012, the Raiders went on to face the University of Texas at Austin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Not only did Macy amass awards on the court but in the classroom as well. She was the recipient of the Charles H. Thurber Award for Outstanding Senior Work in Educational Studies, made the Patriot League Honor Roll in fall 2014 and 2015, and landed on the Dean’s List of Academic Excellence in 2016.

Macy’s previous work experience includes serving as an intern and play partner at an early intervention children’s therapy center, organizing therapy materials, managing clients, and structuring and modeling speech and language sessions to children 13 months to seven years old. On the court, she has also worked as the head camp counselor for the Claremont-McKenna college prep volleyball camp.

As an assistant coach, she enjoys further developing her teaching and coaching skills while also enhancing her leadership abilities in order to become a better teacher and future educator at a college institution. Macy truly loves helping young female athletes reach their highest potential, both as individuals and as a team, while also having fun in the process.

In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, reading, traveling, and camping. She currently resides in Redlands.
